Arisaig and the surrounding areas offer a variety of  enjoyable activities during your stay plus also experience local events.

Land, Sea and Island Centre, placed in the centre of the village, will inform you of the local history, wildlife and has a visitor hub.  Admission is free and is open as follows:

Summer – open daily from 10:00 – 17:00 (Sunday 11:00 – 17:00)

A short walk from the Land, Sea and Island Centre is the memorial to the Czechoslovak and Slovak soldiers, who trained as SOE agents in 1941-1943.

There are various walks that can be enjoyed around the area.  See the Silver Sands of Morar that have been a favourite with film directors over the years – Local Hero was filmed here.

Local Events 2019

Arisaig Highland Games and Clan Ranald Gathering

Date: Wednesday 31st July 2019

Venue: Traigh Farm Arisaigg

Evening of Tuesday 30th July 2019 there is a pre-games Ceilidh held on the Games field.

The games open at 12 noon on Wednesday 31st July and will feature the 15th annual Clan Ranald Gathering.  Traditional events take part at the games including solo piping, throwing the hammer, tossing the caber, highland dancing and a range of track and field events.  There is also a side shows, exhibition tents, trade stalls and refreshment stands.

In the evening there is a traditional ceilidh dance in the village hall.

Wildlife Cruises are available from Arisaig Marine. The area has regular sightings of various sea life: Basking Sharks; Porpoises; Dolphins; Killer Whale; Seals (these can be seen most days, at low tide and can be spotted lazing on the rocks); Otters are also spotted in the bay; Sunfish; Jellyfish; Manx Shearwater; Sea Eagle; Puffins and a variety of sea birds can all be seen around the coast.

Minch Adventures based in Mallaig also offer wildlife watching trips around the Small Isles.

Kayaking can be booked through Arisaig Sea Kayak Centre which is based in the village next to Arisaig Hotel. The centre offers day trips around the coastline of Arisaig.
