Whatever your interests are Arisaig and the surrounding areas will have something for you.  Arisaig has its own centre (Land, Sea & Island Centre) to learn about the local area.  The area offers good walks to soak up the scenery and spot the local wildlife. Day trips to visit the Small Isles (Eigg, Muck and Rum) for the day from Arisaig Marine can be booked. Kayaking at the local Kayaking centre based within the grounds of Arisaig Hotel can be booked. Next to the hotel is Arisaig Archery. Restaurants to sit, admire the view whilst enjoying a cup of coffee after a walk, or for a lazy lunch can be found within the village.  After lunch take a walk up the hill to visit the 19th century church (St Mary’s) gothic style building completed in 1849 and walk further along the road to visit the war memorial. You can also walk to the Silver Sands of Morar, which are a string of white sandy beaches with views out to the Small Isles. The beaches can be enjoyed individually or as a trail.

Philip Webb, a Gaellic poet of the 18th century spent his final years in Arisaig and was involved in the Arts and Crafts Movement of the time.

Do view the Neolithic stone that is on display that was found in the Rhu area. Rhu is a short distance from Arisaig and has a wealth of archaeology to be discovered.

If you are keen to see wildlife, a short walk to Rhu beach is worth the walk to see the colony of otters.  Around this coast line you will see a variety of wildlife.  Seals can be seen in the harbour at Arisaig and there is also seals to be seen in the harbour at Mallaig.  Small birds, sea birds and larger birds of pray can also be seen in the area.  Red deer are based in Scotland and the area is well known for seeing deer.  In the rutting season if out walking in the area,  you might be fortunate enough to hear the roaring of the stags to warn other stags from their hinds.

Arisaig Sea Kayak Centre is within the grounds of the Arisaig Hotel a short walk from Westerlees and offers day trips and courses.

Ferries to the Small Isles (Eigg, Muck and Rum) can be booked at Arisaig Marine.  Whilst waiting for your ferry or on your return you will find a tea room at the marine that stocks a range of nautical gifts.
